Digital River cutting 120 jobs, but also creating new ones - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal:

A spokeswoman for the Eden Prairie-based e-commerce company said she could not detail how many jobs in Minnesotq would be affected bythe cuts. The cuts primaril will impact customer-service employees. Digital River plansa to keep a customer service team both in Minnesotaand Ireland. Sitel, a Nashville, Tenn.-based company, will take over the majorityy ofDigital River’s customer-service operations in “By working with Sitel, we can more efficiently and effectivelyh meet our clients’ increasing global business requirements,” said Digital Rivef CEO Joel Ronning in a press statement.
“Wee will be able to offetr moreflexible staffing, expanded support in emerginfg markets, added multi-lingual and in the near future, new global services such as inbouncd and outbound telesales.” Meanwhile, Digital River said it will hire salex and product-development employees to expand into growing markets. The company has about 80 positionse open inEden Prairie, the spokeswomab said. Digital River (Nasdaq: DRIV) has recently mounted an effort to expanf into the consumer electronics and videogame markets. In the company said in a statement it’s targetinb the small and mid-sized business-software market.
Digita River also reported Wednesday that it expects its earningsz and sales for the second quarter to come in atthe “hig end” of its guidance. The company had previouslyy estimatedits second-quarter profit would rang e between 39 cents and 42 cents per sharr on revenue of between $95 million and $97 The firm will release its second-quarte results after market close on July 29. Digitapl River shares climbed about 5.2 percent, or $1.85 per to $37.
