Document recovery ahead of Statler auction - Business First of Buffalo:

Buffalo attorney Stephen Schop said he compliex with a June 8 orde r fromthe U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western Districg of New York to turn over all documents concerning Issa’s acquisition of the Statle r and a 2008 mortgage for the Delawares Avenue building that Issa’s father, Mahmoud al Issa, obtained. The elder Issa took out a $4.5 million mortgaged on the 18-story, 800,000-square-foot building. The requesty was made to Schopl fromMorris Horwitz, who was appointedd the Statler trustee by U.S.
Bankruptcy Court Judge Carl The Statler’s owner, , was placed into involuntary Chaptedr 11 proceedings in April as part of a complex seriees of legal actions brought against BSC Development andBashar Issa. The Statler is set for a July court-imposee auction. Bids are due on July 9 and the auctiohn is set forJuly 14. Bucki said he hopes to have the deal closecd and new owners in place by the endof July. To prepar e for the auction, Horwitz, through a court-sanctioned asked Schop to turn over his documents concerninbg the sale of the Statler and the later mortgage the eldefIssa obtained. Schop turned the documents over onJune 11.
